Ceiling Fan
Having a wobbly fan can be quite dangerous to those that are in its surroundings. A wobbly ceiling fan can seriously damage the useful work life of the fan itself. For this reason, it is important that if you are suffering from a wobbly ceiling fan, that you resolve it right away. There are two different circumstances in which you can find yourself suffering from a wobbly ceiling fan. We are going to take a look at both circumstances and see what you can do accordingly to resolve the issue.
Secure the Holder
One of the main causes of one having a wobbly ceiling is mainly due to the fan holder. If this is the case, you will need to secure the screws in the ceiling plate a bit tighter. You will need a step ladder to be able to reach the ceiling fan safely and securely. Try shaking the fan with your bare hands at first. If the fan is moving quite significantly, the chances are that you simply need to secure the screws in the ceiling. You might need someone to give you a helping hand when it comes to removing the fan off the ceiling. After having done so, tighten the screws in the ceiling plate to ensure that it is secured firmly and strongly. Once that is done, all you have to do is re-attach the fan back to the holder.
Fixing the blades
Another main reason as to why you might be suffering from a wobbly ceiling fan has all to do with the blades of the fan. In most cases the blades simply require a small adjustment which should fix the problem. However if you are still finding yourself having the same problem, you might end up having to change your fan blades altogether. When one uses a fan on a regular basis, the chances are that the screws and bolts holding the blades in place will gradually become loose.
Start off by using the same approach to take the fan off as mentioned above. After having done so, simply remove each fan blade one at a time. Take the time to clean the blades while you are at it. Once that is done, go ahead and re-attach the blades making sure you tighten them securely. It may be a good idea to replace the screws that you were initially using.
If you are still finding yourself having trouble with a wobbly ceiling fan, you may need to replace the blades altogether. In some cases, the blade fans tend to become distorted in their shape. In such a case, you can always try to restore the original shape of the blade using a hammer.
Even though this is a simple do it yourself fix, there will be some individuals that may find it difficult to do it by themselves. In such a case it is highly advised that you do not take any risks and get a professional to come and do it for you.
